Florida Security License Training

​

To work as a security officer in Florida, you must complete training through a licensed security school approved by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).

Most security companies do not pay for licensing or training. If an employer is sponsoring you, the company should contact PSG directly to arrange payment.

Class Requirements

• Dress professionally.

• Arrive on time.

• Doors open at 7:15 a.m.

• Class begins promptly at 7:30 a.m.

Late students cannot enter once class begins. Payments are nonrefundable, but you may reschedule for the next available class.

Unarmed “D” License

• PSG 42-hour course: $150 prepaid

• FDACS application fee: $97.75

• Fingerprinting fees may also apply.

Minimum total: $247.75, plus fingerprinting

Armed “G” License

• PSG 28-hour course: $260

• FDACS license fee: $112

• Required physical: $125

• Temporary “G” psychological evaluation: $100 for PSG students

You must bring an approved duty-quality firearm in 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP, four magazines holding at least 12 rounds each, and 150 rounds of brass-cased FMJ ammunition. Steel-cased ammunition is not permitted.

Firearm Rental Package — $100

Don’t own a firearm yet? Our rental package includes:

• Glock 9mm firearm

• 150 rounds of ammunition

• Fobus paddle holster

• Magazine pouch

• Eye and ear protection

“G” course with rental: $360

Convenient On-Site Services

Our concierge physician, Dr. Carrera, can perform the required “G” license physical privately at PSG for $125.

​

PSG also offers the psychological evaluation needed to apply for a Temporary “G” card:

• $100 for PSG students

• $200 for non-PSG students

Private psychologists or psychiatrists may charge approximately $350.

Estimated Cost for Both Licenses

With PSG’s firearm rental, physical, psychological evaluation and current FDACS fees:

• “D” license: $247.75

• “G” license: $697

• Combined total: $944.75, plus fingerprinting
